Tabacon Hot SpringsThe Tabacon Hot springs are natural geothermal pools that are fed by the Tabacon River, which begins deep in the Arenal volcano. There, the water is heated to 101 degrees, after which it flows 3 quarters of the mile to the natural pools of the Tabacon Hot Springs.

This is where the river splits up and joins with another river. Pools of varying sizes and temperatures make this a tropical playground for you to explore. Exotic plants add to the lush environment. A heated waterfall is near the mouth of the river, and you can sit under it and let the water massage your body. A swim up bar at the pool add to the luxurious feeling of being here.

Tabacon Hot Springs

Aside from the soothing pools, a world-class resort and spa has sprung up here. The Tabacon Resort Costa Rica is the best place to unwind after taking one of many guided Costa Rica tours. Lake Arenal, La Fortuna, and the Monteverde Cloud Forest are all places within a few hours drive of here. Although there are a number of other lodging options, you will find yourself drawn back to the Costa Rica Tabacon resort at the end of every day you spend in this area.

Tabacon Hot Springs - Lava Bursts

Next to the hot springs, in the main lodge, all of the rooms face the volcano. Visitors just arriving will be thrilled at the loud booms and the accompanying lava and steam, running to their windows to witness the glowing red streaks in the night. Early evening and the nighttime is the best time to soak in the Tabacon hot springs. You are quite literally in the middle of nowhere, so wade over to one of the four bars and order a Pina Coloda.

Tabacon Hot Springs Bar

Enjoy your tropical drink here at this Costa Rica Tabacon Resort, and strike up a conversation with one of the visitors. At all time of year tourists come here, although if you come in the dry season you are sure to get clear views of the Arenal volcano, un-obscured by rain clouds.
