After spending time in beautiful Santa Fe, you might look for another city with an enviable arts scene.  Resting among Rocky Mountain peaks, the town of Taos is one of those places that if you’re not careful, you might end up spending the rest of your life in.  Certain residents here shun materialism, building “homes” that have no running water or electricity, and even some of the vacation homes here utilize alternative energy solutions.  Taos is where you come in the state if you are looking for the best ski resorts.  In fact, regardless of the time of year, it is among the best places for outdoor recreation in the state.  As for the Taos hotels, there are many bed and breakfasts to choose from, and many people prefer the Taos Ski Valley hotels.  From lodges, to motels, Taos has it, and unless it’s a peak season, you will have no shortage of places to rest your head.  The north isn’t the only part of the state that visitors head to.  In southern New Mexico, the cities of Roswell, Las Cruces and Ruidoso might make it on your itinerary.  Roswell is the famed sight of an alleged 1947 alien spacecraft crash.  Ever since, the town has been attached to all things UFO related.  Come here in July for the UFO Festival, and you are bound to not forget it any time soon.  The Roswell hotels are in big supply, and the city has one of the biggest selections of New Mexico budget hotels.  Apart from the motels, your best bets for extra comfort are a bed and breakfast, or the mid-priced chain hotels in Roswell NM.
