Puebla is a historical city in Mexico that dates back to the year 1531. Located 80 miles southeast of Mexico City, Puebla is known for its craft and textile industry, as well as its colonial architecture and flavorful cuisine. The city makes an ideal base for exploring archeological sites. There are several Mayan ruins and archaeological sites located near Puebla hotels, including the Tenapa Pyramid and the Texcal Cave. Many people visit Puebla for Cinco de Mayo, as Puebla is the place where the celebration originated. Whether you’re traveling to Puebla for Cinco de Mayo or you want to explore Mayan ruins, there are several types of accommodations in Puebla ranging from small bed and breakfasts to business hotels. The majority of Puebla hotels are located downtown, near shopping and cafes. Puebla lodging is also very affordable and accommodating to families with small children. One option for accommodations in Puebla is the Hotel Posada San Pedro. Located in downtown Puebla near restaurants and gift shops is the Hotel Posada San Pedro. Located in downtown Puebla near a variety of restaurants and cafes, the hotel is a comfortable and affordable choice in Puebla lodging. The rooms are quite large and come with two double beds or a king-sized bed as well as a mini-bar and a safe. Only half of the hotel is air conditioned, so be sure to book the hotel well in advance if having an air conditioned room is important to you. A restaurant and two bars are great places to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel also offers a fitness room and a business center with computers, printers, and internet access. Outside of the hotel, guests can look forward to an outdoor heated pool and a courtyard. If you’re traveling with children, the hotel plays afternoon cartoons and videos for kids.

Another option for Puebla lodging is the Mesones Sacristia de la Compania. Unlike other Puebla hotels that cater to business travelers, the Mesones Sacristia is for those that want a truly cultural experience. Located in the oldest part of the city that is known for its colorful and unique buildings, the hotel is converted from a colonial house. The rooms are simple, yet colorful. Each room has a coffee maker and a TV. The hotel has a restaurant serving Poblano specialties and often hosts a guitarist or two.

Although most Puebla hotels have an old-fashioned feel, you don’t have to search hard to find modern accommodations in Puebla. Located in downtown Puebla, the NH Puebla is a large modern hotel with contemporary and spare furnishings and soft lighting. Each room has comfortable furnishing in muted tones of yellow and beige as well as upscale bathroom amenities. If you head downstairs, you’ll find a restaurant and bar as well as an outdoor pool. Babysitting and laundry service is available for an additional fee.

Your best chance of finding deals on hotels in Puebla is anytime in the summer when there are less tourists visiting Mexico because of the intense heat. If you plan to visit during Cinco de Mayo in May, make sure to book your accommodations well in advance. Hotels in Mexico tend to fill up fast during the event. With great weather and a variety of things to do and see, Puebla is a fascinating place to visit as you tour Mexico.
