Alaska Fishing Trips

Alaska fishing trips give you the opportunity to experience the best fishing in the world. The possibilities are endless. You will have a chance to catch humongous halibut or an enormous king salmon. You can also try your hand at fly-fishing for rainbow trout on the secluded streams. There are also different modes of transportation for Alaska fishing trips. Some people enjoy an ocean charter boat.  Other prefer to fish by jet or drift boat. If you are seeking an adventure-fishing trip in Alaska, you can fly in by bush plane to a remote Alaska lake or stream.  Here are a few suggested destinations for Alaska fishing trips.

Alaska Salmon and Halibut in Seward

Seward is located on the Kenai Peninsula. Many people plan an Alaska fishing vacation in this area, because it features some of the finest halibut and salmon fishing in the world. Although the majority of the fishing charter companies will provide you with all of the necessary gear, a fishing license is required for your fishing trip in Alaska.

When planning your Alaska fishing vacation, keep in mind that advance reservations are strongly advised. This is particularly crucial in the peak months of July and August. However, your careful planning will be well rewarded. The giant pacific halibut that is available near Seward can easily exceed 300 pounds. Because of the nutrient rich waters that surround Seward, it is one of the most productive halibut grounds in the world. Most companies provide packaging and shipping service. You can send some fish back to your friends and make them jealous of your Alaska fishing vacation.

Another exciting thing to do on Alaska fishing trips is participate in one of Seward's fishing derbies. Thousands of dollars in prize money is available for these contests.

Jet boat Alaska Fishing Trips in Talkeetna

Because of Talkeetna Alaska's prime location at the confluence of the Talkeetna and Susitna River, The Talkeetna River is part of the Susitna River; the area boasts the second largest run of migrating fish in world. If you choose to fish by jet boat in this area, you will have access to over 200 miles of some of the world's best fishing territory. Although the fish in this area varies with the seasons, in general, you can fish for five species of salmon, including king salmon, sockeye salmon, chum salmon, pink salmon and coho salmon, in addition to rainbow trout, Dolly Varden and arctic grayling. Half day Alaska fishing trips are available on custom built jet boats. These come with overhead covers for your protection from the elements. The 24-foot to 27-foot jet boats come equipped with inboard engines. They are capable of cruising at speeds up to 35 miles per hour. However, the best thing about these boats is that they are able take you to areas seldom visited on most fishing trips in Alaska.
