Suggested Itineraries Anchorage

Suggested Itinerary Alaska

Alaska suggested itineraries can include a staggering number of activities.  Depending on when you plan to travel to Alaska and what you would like to see and do, Alaska suggested itineraries can take the form of a week long sea-cruise or time spent in one of Alaska’s more prominent cities.  However you plan to travel, Alaska is one of the last great wilderness areas in the world and will reveal unending surprises.

Alaska suggested itineraries:

1-3 Days

Many travelers heading to Alaska plan to visit Anchorage.  Suggested itineraries for Anchorage can blend museums and historical sites with the beauty of the landscape that continues to surround the city.  Suggested itineraries for Anchorage often include trips to The Anchorage Museum of History and Art, the Alaska Native Heritage Center, the Alaska Zoo, the Imaginarium, and the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum.  From the city, suggested itineraries for Anchorage can also include sea kayaking, fishing, ice skating, bird watching, and hiking.

4-7 Days

With multiple days to spend in the state, many tourists also plan to see Juneau.  Juneau suggested itineraries can include many activities geared specifically toward pleasing tourists.  Juneau is a major cruise ship stop and the shopping in downtown Juneau is perhaps the best to be found in Alaska and at the top of many tourists' Juneau suggested itineraries.  Juneau suggested itineraries also tend to include an array of incredible outdoor activities.  Travel less then a day and you will find some of the best camping, fishing, diving, hiking, white water rafting, sea kayaking and skiing in the world.  Sport equipment is available for rent in a number of shops in Juneau, along with car rentals for transport.

7+ Days

With a week or more to spend in Alaska, you will want to visit the cities mentioned above and more.  Sitka, Ketchikan, and Fairbanks are additional cities well worth visiting.  Many tourists take a cruise to and around Alaska, which can last anywhere from a week to a month.  Heli-skiing is another popular pursuit for daredevil travelers, as is Alaska dog sledding.  If you plan to be in Alaska during the winter, the Iditarod in Anchorage is one of the most incredible spectator sports you’ll ever experience.  Glacier Bay National Park, Kenai River, Delaney Park and Denali National Park are also popular stops on any Alaska vacation.

No matter how you plan to spend your time in Alaska you will surely be astounded by the natural beauty that surrounds you every step of the way.  Travelers often express frustration that the pictures they take of glaciers, mountains, and sea-scapes come nowhere near translating the grandeur of the state and surroundings.  To see these unbelievable sights for yourself, book a cruise or flight into Alaska and begin your very own vacation.
