Fenwick Island is a
quiet Delaware beach resort where hanging out by the water
is among the top things to do. Birdwatchers will love
the opportunities to spy native species in the area, and
touring about on a bicycle is a popular way to spend some
time here. Other Delaware beachtowns like Rehoboth
Beach and Bethany Beach
can be visited with ease from Fenwick Island, as can Ocean
City, Maryland. While Delaware beach vacation rentals
are increasingly becoming a favorite Fenwick lodging option,
the Fenwick Island hotels provide a few options that might
be a better fit. Summer is surely the high season here,
so rates at the hotels in Fenwick Island tend to go up
during this time, and it’s not uncommon for rooms
to fill quickly. The following hotels in Fenwick Island
might just be the perfect fit for your upcoming Delaware
beach vacation, so you might read on to learn more about
them.
If you want a good room at a really good price, the Fenwick Islander Motel should be a good fit for Fenwick Island hotels. You are just one block from the beach here, so if you can’t get into one of the Fenwick beach hotels, you might opt to stay here. Maybe you’ll head to the beach to do some surf fishing, or perhaps you will take to the same surf on a board. Found on the bay side of Route 1, this motel has tidy units, and not only can you walk to the beach, but you’ll also find several restaurants close by as well. The rooms here certainly are not elegant, but they do feature A/C, kitchenettes and convenient fridges. There is a pretty nice outdoor pool found on-site, and there are laundry facilities that are free to guests. The room balconies are fairly private, and daily maid service is a nice plus. Cable TV is also part of the deal here, and a good deal it is.
Found on the ocean side of Route 1, the Sands Motel is another good pick for budget hotels in Fenwick Island. Built in the 1950's, it’s been a Fenwick favorite for years. Perhaps this is because the beach is just a football field away. Pets are allowed here, as long as they behave, and daily maid service helps to keep things tidy. There are standard motel rooms on the first floor at the Sands Motel, and efficiency units on the second floor. The efficiency (apartment) rooms feature full kitchens, as well as a second television in the bedroom. Cable TV, air-conditioning and private bathrooms are featured with each unit, and should you need an extra bed, sleeper sofas also come with the larger lodging choices. You can grab all the free ice you need here, and there’s a nice hotel pool where you can relax when you’re not at the beach or strolling about town.
Finding Fenwick beach hotels is a bit of a task, as there is truly only one option. Where once the Fenwick Sea Charm Hotel stood, you’ll find the Ric-Mar Apartments. A family-owned Fenwick lodging option, you’ll find about a dozen units here, from the smaller studios, to the larger apartments. This is a fairly old place, though you can expect clean accommodations that include cable TV, a mini-fridge, a coffee maker and air-conditioning. Hanging out with friends on the outdoor deck while you grill up lunch or dinner is a fun way to spend some time here, and the beach is so close, you can really take advantage of it. There is an outdoor pool here, and guests can enjoy free parking. In case you haven’t noticed the trend here, there aren’t exactly options for luxury Fenwick Island hotels. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider a stop here. Fenwick lodging choices like the Ric-Mar Apartments are certainly suitable for most.
The AAA approved Atlantic Coast Inn is open from April
27th - September 23rd, and it is certainly one of the
hotels in Fenwick Island that you might take a look at.
Walk just a block to the beach, or head the other way
to enjoy fishing and boating on one of the back bays found
here. Straddling the state line with Maryland, you can
get to Ocean City in no time at all, and the nearby Fenwick
Island State Park is always a joy to explore. Adjacent
to the Atlantic Coast Inn is a miniature golf course,
and a water slide. You can find a few restaurants within
easy reach, and though the rooms are small, they are very
clean. Take a dip in the hotel’s pool during the
day, or check out the area shopping.
Room amenities include a fridge and microwave, cable TV,
A/C, heat, a coffee maker and a telephone. The famed Fenwick
Lighthouse is one of the Fenwick attractions found close
to this nice Fenwick lodging choice, so bring your camera
for sure. Like the other Fenwick Island hotels listed
here, the Atlantic Coast Inn doesn’t provide luxury.
Instead, it offers a good deal for those who are really
here to enjoy the area attractions.
