Maine Golfing

There are three slogans that often appear on Maine license Plates: "Vacationland," "The Way Life Should Be" and "The Pine Tree State." All three of the slogans can apply to the Maine golf courses. You will not only enjoy the beautiful scenery at the Maine golf courses. In general, the fees are pretty affordable. If you plan to do a considerable amount of Maine golfing, you are probably interested in finding a discount golf club Maine. By joining the Maine Golf Club Association, you are eligible to receive a Member Rewards card, which features perks that include discounts at Maine golf courses such as Sugarloaf, Belgrade Lakes, and the new Sunday River Golf Club in Newry.

If you do not plan on doing enough Maine golfing to join the Maine Golf Club Association, your best bet for finding a discount golf club Maine is to look into the public courses. The Sugarloaf Golf Club provides a Maine golfing experience that is as good as the mountain's skiing and snowboarding. Golf Week considers it to be the Number 1 Public Golf Course in Maine. Point Sebago in Southern Maine is an 18-hole championship public course. Many consider it to be one of the best Maine golf courses for families.

If you are interested in a historical Maine golfing experience, check out the Poland Spring Resort course. This discount golf club Maine was established by a man named Arthur Fenn. At the time, American golf was dominated by Scottish golfers. Fenn was one of the first American born and bred golfers. When he was invited to design a golf course on the grounds of the Poland Springs resort, he readily agreed. In 1893, he created a six-hole course which became one of the first Maine golf courses. Later, the Scotsman Donald Ross would re-design the course to an 18-hole championship course. Today, the Poland Springs Resort features a number of extremely affordable Maine golfing packages, which include tee time, lodging at the resort and meals.
