When to Travel to Nevada

When to Travel to Nevada

Nevada is a state for all seasons. No matter when you decide to travel to Nevada, you will always find a variety of things to do. While some Nevada tourist attractions are seasonal, others, such as the casinos, can be enjoyed in any season. If you travel to Nevada during the warmer months, the 24 state parks will welcome you with a multitude of outdoor activities. Each park has its own distinct, unique character.

Mountain bikers who travel to Nevada will find trails and terrain for all levels of biking proficiency. Since close to 85 percent f the state of Nevada is public land, there are hundreds of hiking trails. Some, like Mount Charleston and Lake Tahoe, are highly developed, but others such as the Schell Creek Ranges have strayed from the beaten path.

If you are feeling adventurous when you travel to Nevada, there are some exciting things to do on your Nevada vacation. Challenge yourself by climbing some of Nevada’s majestic boulders. Head to the lakes, where you can kayak, canoe, raft or scuba dive. Participate in a Nevada off-road driving experience. Better yet, use your GPS to participate in a Geocache, which is a high-tech treasure hunt. However, you won’t need your GPS if you ski at Lake Tahoe. The well-marked trails and excellent terrain make skiing at Tahoe one of the most popular things to do on a Nevada vacation.

The State of Nevada is divided into five territories. Each of these territories has some spectacular Nevada tourist attractions. It’s quite possible to plan your Nevada vacation around the types of things that interest you. For example, the Reno/Tahoe territory has many historic Nevada tourist attractions. Cowboy Country is defined by Nevada’s Humboldt River. This area is one of the last remaining outposts of the true American West. The Pony Express Territory is situated along Highway 50, which was the original Pony Express route. While you are there, be sure to take a ride on the Ghost Train of Old Ely. If you travel West on Highway 50, you will eventually come to the Grimes Point Archaeological Site. Here you will find trails lined with fascinating petroglyphs and rock drawings which were made by natives who inhabited the area between 5000 B.C. and 1500 A.D.

Pioneer Territory is home to many historic yet operative mining towns to view when you travel to Nevada. At Round Mountain Gold, you can watch an open-pit mining operation. Pioneer Territory is also filled with many natural Nevada tourist attractions, such as Death Valley National Park. Las Vegas, better known as the Entertainment Capitol of the World, has more neon and bright lights than any other city in America. In addition to the Vegas gambling culture you will find a large selection of mega-malls and other shopping opportunities. You will also find a number of high quality art museums in Las Vegas. Those of you who enjoy water sports will find nirvana in Lake Mead. When you plan a Nevada vacation, the possibilities for fun are endless.
