New Jersey Bed and Breakfasts

New Jersey Bed and Breakfasts

The Garden State can be described as the land of Bed and Breakfasts.  New Jersey has quite a few of these large privately-owned homes that take in guests and treat them like royalty.  Each region of the state seems to have some particular pastoral appeal that draws people in from the big cities to enjoy a weekend getaway in a New Jersey bed and breakfast.  The Jersey Shore includes many quaint old houses by the sea that have been well kept New Jersey bed and breakfasts for generations.  The Skylands region, the northwest portion of the state, offers many a small town bed and breakfast in New Jersey for those wanting to experience the slower pace, beautiful land, and harvest festivals found in the area.  Choosing a comfy New Jersey bed and breakfast near Atlantic City can be the perfect way to balance the bright casino lights.  The Delaware River region, in the southwest, provides a nice escape from Philadelphia, and a step back in time by the historic looks of some New Jersey bed and breakfasts found here.  And, of course, the South Jersey shore (Cape May in particular) is heavily concentrated with popular New Jersey bed and breakfast options.

One region that doesn’t have quite so many inns of this sort is the Gateway region, near the New York Metropolitan area.  Even though it is technically in New York State, the Victorian Bed and Breakfast of Staten Island is so elegant, it must be mentioned here as a great choice for either New Yorkers or residents of New Jersey.  A stay here is an accurate step back in time, as its owner/innkeeper is also a restorative architect and antique enthusiast.  Though the quaint rooms are realistic in their 1800s style, offering internet service is one modern luxury that you’ll appreciate here.

The aforementioned Skylands is home to the unique Silver Maple Organic Farm and Bed and Breakfast.  The people are nice, and if the farm setting is what you want, this is a great choice.  This lovely stone house is surrounded by a pool, hot tub, and tennis court, and is located just 35 miles from the Newark Airport.  There’s also Chestnut Hill on the Delaware, a gorgeous Victorian Era New Jersey bed and breakfast.  Wireless internet, themed rooms, and nice mattresses make this a tranquil getaway for work or romance.

Along the New Jersey beaches north of Atlantic City, the Inn at the Shore in Belmar is a great choice for your visit to the shore.  The air conditioning is cold in the summer, and they are open year round if you need a quick winter retreat.  Mentioned in a Mary Higgins Clark thriller, it’s no mystery that this is one of the better places for couples or families on the Jersey Shore— the porch is a great place for conversation.  The Atlantic View Inn, located in Avon by the Sea, is a unique New Jersey bed and breakfast that hosts murder mystery weekends from time to time, for the suspense-seeking visitor.

A bed and breakfast in New Jersey that must be mentioned that is near Atlantic City is the Atlantis Inn Luxury Bed and Breakfast.  Found in Ocean City, this place has won about every award available for New Jersey bed and breakfasts.  You pay a bit more for this reputation, but after your romantic weekend you will consider it money well spent – specifically if you enjoy on site spa services, Jacuzzi jet tubs, impeccable interior design, and therapeutic spa showers for two.  The Atlantis pulls out all the stops to live up to the word ‘luxury’.

As for the South Jersey Shore, Cape May hotels include so many B&B’s it’s staggering.  The Queen Victoria Bed and Breakfast Inn is renowned for a reason.  Open all year, The Queen Victoria’s three buildings are home to porches filled with rocking chairs, pantries full of teas, and thirty-two gorgeous, peaceful rooms awaiting your relaxation.

Finally, the Delaware River region includes the Founders Inn, which is near Rowan University and only twenty minutes from Philadelphia.  Found in Glassboro, this is one new bed and breakfast in New Jersey that is worth a try, especially in the beautiful fall as students are returning to classes.  A therapeutic massage in your guest room is one of the amenities you’re sure to enjoy here.

New Jersey bed and breakfasts are a way to be pampered, meet friendly people, and enjoy a taste of home when you visit beautiful New Jersey.
