New Jersey Camping

For some, the idea of escaping to New Jersey spa destinations or classy New Jersey resorts along the sea is the ultimate vacation. For others, camping sites in New Jersey offer the chance to really get away from it all, and for much less money. Whether you are looking to pitch your trusty tent or drive up in your custom motor home RV, New Jersey camping has something for anyone who likes to rough it… even just a little bit.

As with many popular things to do in New Jersey, the camping sites in New Jersey are best sorted by region. In the Gateway region, camping is somewhat scarce due to the urban landscape of much of the region. In Jersey City, however, the Liberty Harbor RV Park is a place for RV campers to stay the night, perhaps as a nice staging area for a great New Jersey camping excursion.

Moving down to the shore region north of Atlantic City, Jackson is home to some decent campsites. When taking the kids to Six Flags New Jersey, also in Jackson, make up for the admission cost by camping at Indian Rock Campground, or Butterfly Camping Resort, both inexpensive and reasonable camping sites in New Jersey.

Moving on to Atlantic City North Family Campground is a way to enjoy beach camping New Jersey. While New Jersey Beach Camping may not include actually sleeping on the beach, finding a quality campsite that is close to one of the white sand New Jersey beaches can make fro an unforgettable vacation. Many camping sites in New Jersey are within walking distance of the shore, and beach camping New Jersey is an affordable way for your family to experience all the Jersey Shore has to offer.

New Jersey beach camping continues along the southern tip of the Garden State, in Cape May County. Many visitors to Cape may choose a plush Victorian bed and breakfast for lodging, but the availability of New Jersey camping in the area makes for an inexpensive and fun alternative. Check out the Frontier Campground for both tents and trailers, or the Seashore campsites, a pleasant area complete with a filtered lake to enjoy. Its location five minutes from the beach makes this a solid choice for beach camping New Jersey. The Beachcomber Camping Resort in Cape May is a fairly nice camping area for visitors to the south shore.

Moving away from New Jersey beach camping up into the Delaware River region, the Holly Green Campground is one of this region’s notable camping sites in New Jersey. A particularly family oriented spot for New Jersey camping is the Lake Kandle campground, which has ten scenic acres and a spring-fed lake in its Glassboro location.

The Northwest region of New Jersey, known as the Skylands, is where many people will find their very favorite camping sites in New Jersey. The region is chock full of gorgeous forests, hills, wildlife, and some scenic camping areas. For example, the Mahlon Dickenson Reservation is a good place to camp, and is also close to the gorgeous Bamboo Brook Gardens. One of the nicer tent camping areas in New Jersey is found in the Stokes State Forest, along the Kittatinny Ridge. Nature hikes and wilderness camping in this area are a nice alternative to other camping sites in New Jersey, which can become a bit more like parking lots in some cases.

New Jersey Camping has a wide range of ecosystems for you to experience firsthand, from coastal New Jersey beach camping to the hills of the Skylands. Whatever your idea is of “roughing it,” New Jersey is ready for you.
