Ocean City Day Trip Tours

Ocean City Day Trip Tours

If you visit beautiful Ocean City (south of Atlantic City on the Jersey Shore), you’ll want to make the most of each day at this popular family destination. An Ocean City day trip that allows you to experience the best attractions is a great way to tour Ocean City. Day trips in Ocean City can include beach and boardwalk stops, water sports hotspots, fishing, golfing, cultural locations, and more. The way you organize your own Ocean City tours will certainly influence the flavor of your vacation. Here you’ll find a few resources to help you plan the day trips in Ocean City that best suit you.

New Jersey Beaches in Ocean City

Many day trips in Ocean City include soaking up the sun and cooling off in the water. Choose a beachside breakfast eatery like Bagels by the Beach, and head to the beach to enjoy all that the white sand New Jersey beaches of Ocean City have to offer.  Ocean City is an island, so there are bay beaches that are calmer, as well as the popular Atlantic-facing beaches that draw the biggest crowds.  Following your time at the beach, try Oves Seafood Restaurant for a delicious seafood lunch, a popular spot to get a taste of the Atlantic.

Surfing/Watersports

If there is a surfer in the family, then a trip to Snicklefritz Reed may be a good idea for the afternoon, a popular surf stop during your Ocean City day trip. Snicklefritz isn’t the best for beginners, so unless there’s a surfer in the family, the afternoon may be better spent at Gillian’s Island Water Theme Park. Part of a larger amusement park, these waterslides will provide great fun for the whole family. Round out the day with some Italian food at the always-good Piccini Restaurant, and get some rest; it’s been an Ocean City day trip full of fun, splashing and sun.

New Jersey Golf

For some great New Jersey golf right in the Ocean City area, Heritage Links Golf Club is a nice, nine hole golf course.  Well maintained, especially for an “executive” golf course, Heritage Links is only a few miles away from the center of Ocean City, and an Ocean City day trip to this course is worth the drive.  Ocean City Municipal Golf Course is also available right in town, or if you want to venture further, check out the best golf courses in New Jersey in our New Jersey Golf travel resource.

Bicycling

Ocean City tours that give you a break from the beach scene are a good mid-vacation choice. Rent bicycles from a local bike shop and ask for the best route to tour Ocean City by bike.  Twelfth Street Bike Rentals, located perfectly at 12th and Boardwalk, will rent you a bike that you can use to explore all the coastal island of Ocean city has to offer.

Boardwalk/Amusement Parks

After a couple of hours of bike riding, drop off your bike and resume your Ocean City day trip at the boardwalk, which is more than a couple miles of action for families, and has plenty to offer kids. An afternoon trip to Playland’s Castaway Cove, a popular amusement park, will be much appreciated by kids who love a good roller coaster.

New Jersey Fishing

Suggested Itineraries Ocean City includes some of the best fishing charters to be found on the east coast, right in Ocean City.  Take the whole family, or just one parent and child on one of these Ocean City day trips that will be unforgettable.  The fish may get bigger each time the stories are told, but the joy you’ll experience on one of these boats needs no exaggeration.

Educational/Cultural spots in Ocean City

For day trips in Ocean City that include educational themes, visit the Ocean City Arts Center, or the Ocean City Free Public Library. Next, visit the Discovery Sea Shell Museum, which has some of the rarest and most beautiful sea shells, along with other nautical memorabilia. A quick Ocean City day trip up to Atlantic City allows the family to visit the Ocean Life Center, which is a nice, interactive aquarium compete with a touch tank for hands-on learning.

Ocean City’s Spooky Side

For an offbeat and spooky experience in Ocean City, take a Ghost Tour of Ocean City, offered at 8 pm daily during the summer months and on Saturdays in September and October. Light your candle and tour Ocean City while you hear spooky tales about the area. This most unique of all Ocean City tours meets at City Hall on the corner of 9th and Asbury.
