One of the most successful theme park juggernauts in
the United States is Six Flags Theme Park, and New Jersey
is home to the largest park offered by the company: Six
Flags Great Adventure and Wild Safari, commonly known
as Six Flags New Jersey. The rides and attractions
found here are absolutely unmatched in the region, and
this park can hold its own among the world’s best
amusement parks. While it may not have the “magic”
of the Magic Kingdom, Six Flags New Jersey makes up for
it with rides … and more rides … and better
rides than you could ever imagine.
Transportation is a snap, because the Six Flags in New Jersey is found just off Interstate 195 in Jackson, New Jersey. The park is open daily during the summer months, typically with late hours allowing the Six Flags New Jersey fun to continue into the night. In the spring and fall, check for selected weekends that Six Flags in New Jersey is open. As I recently talked to a young thrill seeker from New Jersey, it became clear that Six Flags New Jersey is a beloved attraction to locals as well as tourists, especially those that take advantage of the generous season pass deals offered by Six Flags Theme Park. It doesn’t take long to understand why Six Flags in New Jersey is so well-liked once you enter the gates, even after having paid the stiff admission fee. This place is just always adding more, and better, attractions for visitors to enjoy and remember throughout the years.
The thrill rides are the main event at Six Flags Theme
Park. You can fly like Superman here with the ultimate
feeling of flying that some say is worth the admission
itself. If you are tired of being Superman, switch
over to being Batman, because there are two rides that
simulate his movements around Gotham City. Alcatraz
the Ride is something you won’t want to escape from
if you are into fast-paced action. Take your turn
on Eruption, or El Toro, which is one of the tallest and
fastest wooden roller coasters in the world. Medusa
was the first floorless roller coaster in the world, and
is still providing thrills today. If these rides
aren’t enough, try on the Kingda Ka, which just
happens to be the tallest, fastest roller coaster on the
planet—and it’s all right here at Six Flags
in New Jersey. Whether you treat Six Flags as your
ultimate destination or just as a daytrip
from your Ocean City family
vacation, it works great in both roles.
If you have younger kids, or if you just aren’t the thrill-seeking type, there are some more tame rides that are sure to please. The Big Wheel, the Dream Street Skyway, Fantasy Fling, Jolly Roger, and Spongebob Squarepants 3D are all family favorites at Six Flags New Jersey.
In addition to the rides, Six Flags Theme Park has shows and events of all kinds that will provide special memories for the kids. “Brunch with Bugs” is a fun photo op for kids to meet the famous Bugs Bunny, which is something that young kids won’t soon forget. Six Flags New Jersey is always cooking up something special, so be sure to check the website before your trip to find out what is happening during your stay.
A couple of quick tips: though very young children can enjoy Six Flags New Jersey, a trip to the Land of Make Believe may better suit these youngsters (and the parents who are responsible for chasing them around). To get the best of New Jersey beaches and theme parks in one, stay in the Seaside Heights Beach and Boardwalk area, which is just a short drive from Six Flags Theme Park.
