Family camping in Ohio will keep the kids entertained day in and day out with fresh air, outdoor activity and chance to get a look at some of Ohio’s interesting wildlife.


If you’re looking for Ohio state parks camping, the first thing to do is determine whether you would like to be close to one of Ohio’s city’s, such as Cleveland, in order to enjoy the best of both worlds. Punderson State Park, located between Cleveland and Akron. From here Cleveland attractions such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Art Museum and Jacobs Field are all easily accessible during day trips.


Situated on a former Indian village site, the history of Punderson State Park dates all the way back to 1808. Ohio state parks camping at Punderson has great amenities. The campground provides flush toilets, shower houses, hookup sites, electricity and pet camping. Ohio state parks camping here offers a natural lake with a sandy beach, impressive campground with more than 200 sites, and numerous recreational activities including an Ohio golf course right in the park!  Boating, fishing, hiking and hunting can also be enjoyed. Geneva-On-The-Lake, north of Youngstown on Lake Erie has great camping in Ohio. Indian Creek Camping Resort offers family camping in Ohio with an abundance of amenities sure to make your holiday fun! Heated adult pool, children’s pool, Laundromat, a lounge with weekend events, an onsite restaurant and 18-hole mini golf course are only some of the great things offered for Ohio camping here. East of Cincinnati in Hillsboro, Shady Trails Family campground awaits you. Shady Trails offers some of the best Ohio camping in the state. Special events and local festivals kick off from June to October. The highland County Fair, fishing tournaments, antique shows and flea markets can all be enjoyed.


Shady Trails camping Ohio offers many attractions in the area. Explore the area and discover ancient Native American burial grounds at Fort Hill State Memorial. It’s also within 20 minutes of some of the best Ohio camping golfers will find three courses to play. Traverse nearby caves for added variety or head out for an afternoon of local shopping. Campsites range from $15.00 to $25.00 depending on amenities.


For those not into extremely back-to-basics camping Ohio offers plenty of campgrounds with many convenient amenities to make your trip worry-free and full of outdoor activity. State parks offer rustic and isolated sites and well equipped sites as well.
