There are miles upon miles of hiking trails in the state
of Oregon, and hiking is one of the great passions of
many Oregon residents. The famous Pacific Crest Trail,
which stretches from Canada
to Mexico, cuts
right through Oregon and is a favorite choice among hikers.
Although hiking the entire trail would take multiple months,
there are sections of the trail that can be hiked for
as long as hikers like, or as short. The Oregon
Coast Trail is another of the most popular places for
Oregon hiking trails. In addition to these famous Oregon
hiking trails, there are also hundreds of lesser-known
trails that are still quite beautiful. In fact, no matter
where you are in Oregon you shouldn’t have much
trouble finding a great Oregon hiking trail.
The Pacific Crest Trail cuts through some of the best Oregon hiking available. The Mt Hood Wilderness, the Mt Jefferson Wilderness, the Three Sister Wilderness, the Diamond Peak Wilderness, the Mt Thielsen wilderness and the Sky Lakes Wilderness are all stops along the Pacific Crest Trail. Although most trekkers who attempt some Oregon hiking on the Pacific Crest do not hit up all of these areas, any one of them makes for a beautiful hiking experience.
The Oregon Coast trail is another great option for hiking
Oregon. This trail, as the name suggests, extends for
the entire length of the Oregon
Coast. The trail hugs the beach as much as possible,
and in some places stretches up into the mountains and
some cliffs. Favorite spots along this popular trail include
Boardman State Park in the south of Oregon, where a nice
three mile hike can be enjoyed, and the Oregon Dunes National
Recreation Area, where there are various hikes ranging
from four miles to just over twelve.
Another great trail for hiking Oregon is the Clackamas River Trail. Trekkers hiking Clackamas River Trail Oregon will have a chance to see much of the Clackamas River and the surrounding area. The hiking trail Clackamas River Trail Oregon is popular due to its proximity to near by cities and towns, which makes the hiking trail Clackamas River Trail Oregon quite accessible. The Clackamas River Trail is just over 15 miles long, and although that may be too long for one day, a comfortable hike of seven or eight miles can be enjoyed.
Hiking Oregon in Bend and Sunriver is also a popular
pursuit. The Deschutes River Trail is probably the most
popular choice. The Three Sisters Wilderness area is also
popular, and winds through some interesting volcanic peaks.
Surprisingly, Portland is also
a great area for hiking. Forest Park, within the city
limits, is a fun way to go for a day hike in town. There
are literally over 50 miles of hiking trails, making this
a great way to stretch your legs after checking out the
Portland Rose Garden or
some of Portland’s other great attractions.
