Memphis Tours Day Trips

Memphis tours around the city are the best way to get a real feel of what the city is about. There are many Memphis tours that are led by knowledgeable guides that can explain Memphis history in depth and project a good idea of what things were like when blues music first took a hold of the city. There are so many musical Memphis tours it’s hard to choose which one is best! Memphis tours can be fun with a guide but if wanting a tour Memphis is easy to navigate without a guide as well. So many attractions are close together and transportation is convenient with the vintage trolleys running all day as well as buses and taxis.

Tour Memphis and visit the Victorian Village which includes a row of impressive homes built on what used to be the outskirts of Memphis circa 1800. If opting to tour Memphis, don’t miss this historical haunt. Three houses in particular draw interest to the area and they are Woodruff-Fontaine House, Magevney House, Mallory-Neely House which are open to the public Tuesday to Saturday. Magevney was home to the first Catholic Mass in Memphis and contains significant religious history of the area. Renowned for being the home of the blues, blues clubs proudly line the street as well as many shops, restaurants and other attractions. The W.C. Handy Museum is a good place to to learn more about the history of Beale Street.

Downtown day trips in Memphis include visits to the Memphis Rock ‘N Soul Museum, the internationally acclaimed National Civil Rights Museum and famous Sun Studio. Day trips in Memphis in this area also include countless historical buildings and many more museums which recount Memphis’ rich history and vibrant culture.

Cooper-Young Neighborhood

Music based day trips in Memphis should include the hip, eclectic and historic neighborhood of Cooper-Young in Midtown. There are a very diverse mix of shops, restaurants and bars in this creatively minded area. The Cooper-Young Festival is hosted here each fall and features great live music and a 4-mile run. This is one of the more hip and imaginative neighborhoods worth adding to any list of day trips in Memphis.
